Providing Animal Wellness Support Fund

In 2013, we established the Phinny Fund to provide care and treatment to animals with critical medical needs that might otherwise make it harder for them to be adopted or even worse, euthanized for a treatable health condition. Phinny, a beloved pitbull mix, needed surgery to repair his jaw bones that had fused together after being hit with a baseball bat, leaving him incapable of opening his mouth. Thanks to the generosity of our community of supporters, CCHS was able to get Phinny the care he needed.

Since 2013, CCHS has continued to honor Phinny by providing life-changing medical and special needs support to adoptable dogs and cats so they can live life to the fullest. Cases have included animals that have endured unimaginable pain, like Meeser, who was shot with a BB gun and Autumn, who needed extensive dental work. This fund has supported over 30 cases to date, totalling over $80,000, making it possible for these animals to be adopted and go on to live life to its fullest.

In 2022, this fund received a new name: the Emergency Medical and Special Needs Fund, but the mission remained the same, to provide medical care for adoptable animals. CCHS is committed to getting animals in its care the medical attention they need, and this life changing care comes at a cost.

Your support has helped treat Lillian and Moo, just two of the animals who have received care through the fund. Lillian had severe tongue lacerations and inflamed gums, causing her great pain. She underwent oral surgery to repair her tongue and extract 18 teeth. Lillian’s diagnosis, pain management and surgery cost nearly $9,000; she is now thriving in her fur-ever home free from pain thanks to the generous support of our donors. Moo, a sweet puppy who developed breathing issues shortly after arriving in foster, needed to have his blocked nasal passages repaired, likely due to trauma at some point in his short life. Thanks to your generous support, Moo got the medical attention he needed, and was adopted soon after that.

Today, we are proud to recognize this fund as PAWS — Providing Animal Wellness Support. The program has a new name and a new logo, but its core mission remains the same. As always, we will continue to support life-changing medical care for as many animals as possible. With your support, we pledge to continue this program and help more animals now and in the future.
