CCHS is in need of
loving, qualified dog fosters to help us rescue the large number of dogs
in need of homes! Fostering comes at no expense to you; CCHS pays for all food,
supply & medical expenses. All we ask is that you provide a loving home for a
dog in need until a forever home can be found.

Your
vote could mean the end of needless suffering for many farmed animals. The California Prevention of Farm Animal Cruelty Act aims to
accomplish a very important standard of humane care, providing more
than 20 million farmed animals the most basic of luxuries - the room to turn
around and extend their limbs.
This act will end the suffering of these farmed animals by preventing three of
the most inhumane forms of confinement: battery cages for egg-laying hens, gestation
crates for breeding pigs, and veal crates for young calves (to learn more about each,
please click here).
These animals are counting on your support. On the
November 4th ballot, help by making your voice heard by voting YES to prevent farm animal
cruelty! For more information on the California Prevention of Farm Animal
Cruelty Act, please visit www.humanecalifornia.org.

Home Foreclosure and Your Pets:
Animals in California are being surrendered to shelters in increasing numbers due
to the foreclosure crisis. In the last quarter of 2007, the foreclosure rate grew
218% from 2006 in Contra Costa County alone. Moving may be inevitable for many, but what happens to
beloved companion animals when one is unable to keep their home? It's key for one to
develop a plan that includes one's animals and to consider all possible options before
abandoning animals at overburdened municipal shelters. Please click here for options on renting with your animals,
re-homing your animals, and other short-term solutions. This information is
critical in ensuring that your beloved companion animals are able to remain part of the
family. |
